Our valued client MAC Group contracted us to facilitate access solutions in refurbishing The Bond in Birmingham to transform it into a wedding venue.
The project involved external façade, internal structure repairs and partial reroofing, with access all the more difficult because of the Victorian warehouse’s cobbled entrance. MG Scaffolding provided pre-tender scaffold information and party wall agreements while liaising with local authorities and the Canal & River Trust, as the work included difficult-to-access areas near both the Digbeth Branch Canal and the River Rea.
Working with Oryx Design, MAC Group and the Canal & River Trust, we provided suitable access solutions, using a complex set of scaffolding materials resulting in the east elevation scaffolds cantilevering from the building façade, suspended over the waterways, to enable the continued movement of barges. Scaffolds were erected over the Digbeth Branch Canal and the River Rea waterways, either from the building’s interior and trussed out of the building or by bolting on the outside of the building façade and cantilevered to full height.
